Andrew Lenz is a friend of mine and a really great guy. His site is a fun read even for those of us non-pipers.

I think this thread would better fit in our new "Celtic Muscians" forum so I will move it there.

    Cheers

On the other hand, should anyone have any interest in eBay bagpipes, I would suggest looking at this piece by Andrew Lenz:

    Okay. THIS comes from experience.

Look on the sites for Celtic Bands, and maybe even Pipe Bands, to see if anyone has any old sets for sale. Musicians tend to buy new sets and keep old ones around for "practice", only to let them sit in a corner for years. An inquiring email about such a matter can stir their memories (if not totally ruined by whiskey and backstage Betties).

Make sure to let them know that you're a starter, and they'll be more accomodating to your situation.

THIS is how I was able to afford my first "real" set of Highlands.
