    from both southern US coasts!

I think the shoes with black hose are a good choice. Certainly try a couple of different shirts. I have a light green polo shirt that goes well with my Black Watch, but I've also done the black button-down as well. You could go with a slightly brighter blue, as well.

    Have fun!

And another big welcome from the wilds of Georgia.

Why not at least consider lovat green hose--like the Blackwatch was prone to wear. They look really good and yet are understated with red flashes. Add a pair of black shoes and a shirt of your choice, and--voila! (as the French would say)--you're all set.

This is not the best photo, but it'll do for illustration:

Wow! I'm delighted with this site! I had no idea there were sooooo many peeps who wore kilts - and actually know how to wear them! I'm looking forward to all the banter. Thanks again everybody for your thoughts. I'll let you know how I get on!

    Welcome to XMarks!

I've always been of the opinion that when wearing a combat style boot, wear a short sock, or scrunch the hose way down. Hose pulled all the way up just seem a little out of place on high boots.

If you haven't found it all ready, take a look through the casual/dressy/formal threads in the Pictures section.

    Welcome to the Rabble!

from Sunny Southern California, just outside the back gate of Camp Pendleton!

I don't often go for the all black look - but it does have it's place. I would suggest a color of hose the contrasts with your shirt or tie.

    Welcome from Alabama.

If it's business casual, just think what shirts would you wear with black or dark pants. There are quite a few you can choose from. I think the Black Watch looks good with black shirt, hose etc but IMHO since it is a pretty dark tartan you can wear brighter colors with it and still look good.

Then again, you're in a kilt. You'll still look good whatever you wear!

I frequently do the black/black/boots with Black Watch, and don't think it looks too dark:

Though green/green would be great too.

    Best regards

I wear dark/forrest green hose with my Black Watch kilt.. looks good as a compliment to the green in the tartan.
