OK - I have a slightly different take on your situation. . . . this comes from the perspective of a full time kilt wearer.
I would buy a good quality 5 yard casual kilt. You will spend less money. You can still wear it with a PC. You will spend less money. It can be your starter kilt. You will spend less money.
Seems like I'm hung up on the money thing - right? Well for a first kilt, that is true. If, after you get your first kilt, you find that you really like wearing a kilt, you can branch out in two directions. You can go to Still Water and get some low-end, low cost, knock around kilts, and you can keep your eyes peeled for what you want in your first tank.
Remember all the stuff that you buy to go with your 5 yarder will work with the tank and with a SWK thrifty. Buy good stuff!
You need hose, flashes, kilt pin, belt, buckle, sporran, sporran belt, sgian dubh, hat, etc etc etc......
Just my two cents worth.
Good Luck - I wish I was starting down that path again!
