It'll be something where ever you go. Glad all was alright.

Yo, I was in Massachusetts for a tornado. Then one found me in Yorktown, VA only 3 miles from my home. Here is Missouri, the closest they have gotten is 5 miles... I feel lucky.

Wisconsin gots 'em too. Not a whole lot of fun, are they?

Heck, Washington gets at least one tornado per year. Usually rather minor compared to the ones east of the Rockies, but we do get them.

I've come within less than a mile of several tornadoes (well, actually they came to me) and have even been directly under one. Nothing quite like looking up and seeing the sky spinning around
At this point I just enjoy the thrill. Not much else you can do really.

There were a couple that went through Southern Maryland the other night. You can get them anywhere, but yeah, you are in the middle of tornado alley.

In Indiana they are a regular feature of the climate. About twelve years ago I accidentally drove through a small one. It wasn't too scary until it was gone. It was really bizarre seeing huge signs fly past and watching street garbage in a huge swirl. The Mountain State gets very few. Still better than hurricanes!

We had a tornado hit the same shopping center in Colonial Heights Va that one hit about 10 years before, when it wiped out a Walmart store. This year's storm narrowily missed the Sam's club, now in the old Walmart location and damaged several other stores nearby. Below is a picture of a Target Store sign where the tornado literally scored a bullseye with debris.

Several years back, a tornado went through just north of DC. For many years afterwards, you could see where it passed without actually touching down, as all the trees were cut off at the same height.
