Great series, but there was little doubt the Wings would prevail, they have too much talent and excellent leadership and coaching. The Pens did a super job of making them work for it!
The Pens have a lot of emerging talent, but it will be a tough off-season...look for a coaching change, and the loss of several free-agents.

That was an awesome series! I was totally impressed. And I felt so bad for the poor Penguins after they lost. That last goal attempt.. that was just so close to putting the match into overtime. And then the one goal that they accidentally helped Detroit get...
And they looked so whipped at the end of it. Your heart just has to go out for them. Now if it was... <insert team name> it wouldn't matter. I saw Monday's game. It was awesome! 3 periods of Overtime.
*raptures to hockey* I can't wait for more hockey!

And I would like to disagree with you MacMoose on the coaching change. I've not read up on the latest hockey news as of yet, but I don't think there will be a change in coaches. For one, if the Pens were going up against anyone that wasn't the Detroit Red Wings they probably would have won the Stanley Cup. I'm sure the powers that be recognize that going up against the Red Wings was somewhat David vs. Goliath-ish.
And this team has made a remarkable turnaround. Why mess up a good thing now that they have it? Now I can see if it was some other teams that I won't mention that didn't do well at all.... I can see there changes. The biggest challenge for the Penguins is their ability to heal after all their injuries in time.
And it was just by a hair that Game 6 didn't go into Sudden Death. It was really bad luck on that last shot to the net.

I'm a Pens fan through and through, but the Wings did a great job. An awesome series all around.
I hope that we can keep some the numerous free agents and make another run at it next season. My fingers are crossed.

I was just talking about this with a buddy. We both agree that this was one of the best series we had seen in a long time.
And a huge hat's off to the Penguins fans that stayed after the game and cheered on the Red Wings for their victory. Thats true sportsmanship.

I have to agree with this. I would hate to see Therrien go. He has done amazing things with the team. Not to mention what he did with the Baby Pens from 2003-2005.

It has nothing to do with their results. There are several key players that have come out and said they will not res-sign with the Pens if Therrien is still the coach. The Team owner has also said he was not happy with him. Therrien has been bounced around a fair bit in the league, and is not exactly well-respected.
The biggest challenge is not healing, they are hockey players, they are used to this. The team has a lot of contracts to negotiate, and very limited funds. Trust me, this team is in for an upheaval. Talk to me about it in October.

Their disheval is the Habs gain. That's the team I want to see at the Stanley Cup anyway.
