If I lived near this gentlemen (I use the term very loosely), I might donate him a few books with a cover letter and all. However I feel it would do this person no good.
It might be better to speak to one of the officials who organized the games. Perhaps they are unaware of the error in this persons history lesson. Perhaps they are as confused as the person in question.

There it is again-Braveheart.
Mel Gibson needs to learn if your going to try and make historic films then leave the fiction to Stephen King.

I think that's the PERFECT solution! If you do something like that, and don't get in a big to-do with him over, as he would most certainly be on defense were you to correct him, he will be more likely to actually visit the site and possibly LEARN something.

I've run across such before. At the first falsity, I get up and spend my time elsewhere more fruitfully. I do make an exception for such mishistories I have heard at scotch-tastings. At those, I'm much more forgiving.

actually celts did fight without clothes on. besides scarin the poop out of the roman, no clothe was forced into the wound and decreased chance of infection(thank you history channel!!).
i would of said something like: i thought it was 1746 when they banned scottish stuff. i would of been at his throat(metaphorically).

Unfortunately - There really is no good cure for stupidity except education. These myths have been around for so long that "They must be true!" - I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of us here on X-Marks thought that way when we started out.
The other thing to do is to invite people like this to visit ..this.. web-site!
