US Army. One stint. I went in to stay, but while there I realized I was more M*A*S*H than military. Tried to get into West Point, but it was probably better that I didn't!
I loved the Army and what I did, but didn't love those "superiors" that had risen to their level of incompetence.

EOSed in 1984 as an E-5 (Sgt.)
Family history:
Father was U.S. Army during WWII, retired as a 1Lt.
Paternal uncle- U.S Army-2Lt.(Ret.)
Maternal uncle-U.S.A.F. Lt. Col. (Ret.), Navigator on B-29's & B-52's, served in OSS during WWII, last tour of duty-navigator on modified DC-3 chasing hurricanes.
Maternal cousin served 8 years USCG.

USARNG, GSR section leader, 1st of the 163 AC. 4 years.

4 years active and 4 years National Guard.
First 4yrs at Ft. Bragg 51st Sig Bn.
Second 4 with 28th Sig Bn PAANG, Pittsburgh, PA
Both units have been realigned now.

Heavy military in my family for several generations. Lots of scars...
I turned 18 in 1972. No one in my family was pushing me to jump into the fray, including my namesake LT Colonel Green Beret uncle who did 5 stints in Vietnam.
No military for me, and no regrets.
