Well since I live out of town and have the rural (contract) carriers, I'd be happy to see them hire people that can read and get the mail in the proper box.

But if I lived in town, I think it would be fine to have kilted mailpersons.

And PLEASE don't make the cute little brunette UPS woman stop wearing those tight shorts.

I have always said that men have gotten the short end of the stick as far as clothing choices go....

Mailman wants to be in kilt

I hope this US Postal Service ("USPS") mailman succeeds in getting the USPS to officially allow the wearing of kilts to work.

    Read the news story here.

IF there was a USPS tartan, that would certainly support his case. Is there really a USPS tartan?

Thanks Steve, I tried using Tartan Ferret but couldn't come up with a result... (oh well).

It would be strange not to allow a kilt especially that there is a USPS tartan.

An excerpt from the news article says that according to a Postal Service officials: there is no rule that will bar them from wearing kilts. However, the uniform must be "neat, professional, and pleasing" appearance, and "a feeling of esprit de corps."

I just found out that this story has already been posted and discussed in this forum last June.
(includes a picture of the USPS tartan which looks very nice.)

I think it got into the news because the Letter Carrier's union is currently having its convention.

Here's an interview with the Dean Peterson, the mail carrier, that was broadcast yesterday on NPR.

If you go to google and type in "postal, kilt" you will find a lot of online articles related to this.

However, this link http://www.asylum.com/2008/07/23/goi...-to-wear-kilt/ already has some negative feedback...maybe we should go there and post some support?
