			The most expensive kilts?

At the Milwaukee Highland Games last weekend, I overheard two women talking. One of them said to the other, "Isn't that kilt nice? The man said it cost $1000! That must be a really good kilt!"
I was pretty surprised. I've never seen a kilt go for $1000. Either this guy got ripped off, or was trying to show off for the ladies. What do you think?

I think you might be right one of the two, however my Isle of Skye while not quite $1000.00 was close to that after taxes, so it could have something to do with the tartan or tweed used.

Perhaps due to my girth (and the poor value of the dollar at present ), the prices always quoted to me by Scottish sources were close enough to that price that I could see someone quoting it.

There is a big difference in the amount of material needed for someone with a girlish figure like ...well me and Grant actually

A yard or two more tartan really is going to increase the price. Then factor in the type of tartan. Is it a rare one? Custom woven? Last you have to think about where is this kilt from? The fellow may have been including shipping and/or Custom's fees into that price.
So I think it is very likely that he (and many others) pay an even grand for a kilt.

Remember we are really in the know about kilts here on XMTS. A custom kilt may still be a lot but we know where to get the best deals and are very informed shoppers.

 Cheers

I never understood spending so much money on a kilt when a much cheaper military kilt could be so satisfying.
Butchyeah, I've seen the prices go near 1,000 for custom tanks.

My most expensive kilt was the one that caused me and my ex-wife to argue for a whole week. She said I didn't have the money to spend, I said I did. I bought it. It was only a $75.00 kilt, but I paid the price of an angry wife for a week.

I'm not sure how the conversion rate effects the price. Either it's 500 pounds or 1000 dollars. They don't sell it for $1,000 pounds or $1,000 US dollars, whichever you happen to have.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by that? I'm just a little confused.
