I think that I'd go with the small leather pouch/pocket watch holder. Like you I think the idea of putting your good pocket watch into the sporran to be jostled about with keys, pocket knife, coins, etc. will not be good on the case of your fine watch. Someone suggested tucking it into the top of your kilt, but I personally would be worried about sweat damage, here in the humid midwest cornfield summers that would be an issue with me. However the small pocketwatch leather pouch would protect your watch from scratches and moisture, and look pretty good too. Maybe you could find one with a celtic knot or cross carved (stamped) into the cover? Any hoo, just my two cents worth.

The belt pouch is about 20 years old but I did wear it alot.
The watch is an antique 1930 Omega and the chain (châtelaine and breloque) is nineteenth century.

    Back to first question,

I wear my pocket watch behind my belt buckle and simply hang the chain on the belt.
To get it out, I simply put my finger under my belt buckle and push up, or sometimes I pull on the chain. It's quick, it's easy, it's simple

I wear a pocket watch. I attach the end of the pocket watch chain to a D-ring of my sporran and put the watch inside the sporran, the chain makes it easy to retrieve the watch.

Nothing like a pocket watch. I sewed a watch sized pocket to the top of the liner on the right front. It is sort of like the small pockets on a pair of Navy blues. It is easy to fish the watch out with my index finger.

Excellent idea, I do remember the Navy blue uniform. I can just imagine the watch chain looping down and back up and over the top of the kilt creating a very nice look. I'll have to do this too.

That's exactly what I do, if not wearing a waistcoat:

If you look closely you can see the chain, and the little bar thingy.

I have a Dakota which is attached to a carabiner and it hangs from a belt loop on both jeans and kilts. Haven't decided yet how to wear a watch with a dressier kilt outfit. No need to yet.
Its been seven or eight years since I've worn a wristwatch.
