In Guatemala I was in "Antigua Guatemala" a turistic city full of tourist from everywhere so they see a lot of "crazy gringos" all around. And they are a little shy also. So nothing funny happens. I get some looks but that was couse I was completly wet after the pool incident.

Any way I think people are cool or afraid to make a coment to a guy wearing a "skirt"

Last Nigth I broke a couple of needles so the Kilt is in Stand By mode now.

I hope to sew this evening or tomorrow.

I spent 2 weeks in Guatemala back in February visiting my father-in-law who lives in the capital city. When I got married a year ago and asked my father-in-law to wear a kilt for the ceremony, you'd have thought I'd asked him to club a baby seal or something equally revolting. I'm glad to see you are showing the values of a kilt to the peoples of Central America. Keep up the good work!

BTW- You are right, Antigua is full of tourist but extremely beautiful.

Is he in any way Scottish? If not, I can understand his reaction, after having a busload of people in Puerto Rico start laughing when my kilted companion and I boarded the bus.

Other people, however, recognized the kilt as such and expressed their pleasure at seeing it. We even were dragged into one souvenir shop by the staff, who had never seen one live before, and wanted to see it close up!

you are touching on a good point.

Latin-American men (the population in general in all fairness) are familiar with Pipe Bands and associate them with Scotland and all that.

But somehow they can not make the transition from that into actual men wearing them, they seem to assume they are just ceremonial and military in nature.

You know, the whole 'piper major' acoutrement and all, so suddenly seen a guy wearing just the kilt, I can understand their 'shock' specially with their patriarchal societal structure and all.

Ok fellows... this aren't the pretiest pics that this Kilt will have but you are asking for them and I don't wan't to desapoint you. (I'm very self confident, don't you think?)

droping the bull..it, I almos have time to sew, so pics are secondary. So I use the tinny computer camera and take this pics.

The Kilt it isn't finished: Velcro, belt loops, buclets and interface for the apron (to stiffen it) are next. But I can resist myself and I'm wearing it now, at the office. In going to a concert with it this night, hoping that the belt made his work! (the belt is a friend of mine now, no more an "it")

I left the "lady-bag-sporran" and buy a "couriously almost sporran" bag that I find at Oficce Depot (not publicity), It has the strap, some poquets with zippers, a key hook etc. Its great couse I can put all my stuff separatetly and organyzed.

I will get a good leather belt and a sporran made it by a "talabartero" (lehtersmith?) who make "horse stuff".

(my english suck when I drink a couple of bears! [bears means "osos" Ouch!] I mean beers!)

I promesse to take some decent pic of the Kilt soon, and finish it properly.
