Having followed such a kilt along the esplanade at Sidmouth - purely due to my being going in the same direction, you understand, I can state unequivocally that such pleats do not swish but scythe through the air in a workmanlike manner.
It is not an unattractive motion (I was just looking!!) but very different from the sinuous oscillation of a wool kilt.
I am sure, however, that I can appreciate both forms of pleat movement equally, with a little more study.

It looks as if --- anyone who turns around suddenly in one of those kilts is likely to become a gyroscope.

The cool thing about the denim Utilikilts is they make it out of the real denim that Levi and Wrangler made jeans out of back when I was a kid in the 50s. When my blue denim UK arrived it was not only as stiff as a new pair of jeans it had that heavenly denim smell.
Someone on the board recommended that I wash it six times in a row with unscented Downy. That began the softening process. But just like jeans you gotta wear them to break in a UK denim kilt...wear it a lot.
Mine softened up to be just like a well worn pair of jeans only without the wear. Then I outgrew the kilt. Its still for sale with info somewhere on the for sale threads.
Of all the UKs I outgrew I miss that one the most. Not sure they make it in blue anymore, but if I sell the too small soft one I'll get a new one in my new size and start breaking it in...after savoring that new denim feel and smell for a while first...

Today being my first official day as a utilikilt owner, I can already say I'm hooked. Staying on subject: where can I get one of these denim utilikilts? They don't have them at kilted nation.

No, no! If they are able to stand up on their own, you should teach them to launder themselves!

Man, I knew that would happen. The next thing you know you'll be denying that you were ever drunk when you ordered it.

Have you tried contacting UK HQ? If they don't show it in your size on the website, its usually worth while to give them a call. (That's how I got mine.)
Best regards,

No, I can't deny I was drinking. I especially can't when I'm wearing a utilikilt with a couple beers in the pockets.
All joking aside, utilikilts are badass. There's no other comment I can make about it. I can see right now that I'll be buying another one very soon.
Lastly, thanks for the link to Utilikilt's HQ.

Panache: don't give up your day job!
On one show I worked we used a LOT of polyester resin and fiberglass. . . both my shop apron and coveralls did that too.
