It's funny. I used to go to Golden Spike all the time, but since moving to Port Moody I usually avoid it.

I am planning on a few beers at the games and likely afterwards as well.

I'll be the big dude in the MacKenzie weathered and the Scotland rugby jersey (blue or white depending on the heat that day).

    I'll most likely be there.
It's supposed to be cooking hot that day. I was going to wear my SWK heavyweight Black Watch but I might have to opt for the Black Stewart instead (which is also an SWK).

Its my best friend's birthday the following day, so we're heading for all-you-can-eat sushi afterwards.. and possibly St. James' Well after that (since its in the village, and withing crawling distance to the GF's place).

Also just found out that my buddy has not only gone and bought a SportKilt without telling me, but he's also registered to participate in the games!

I'll be there... either in my BC or my Hunting Stewart, SLR around my neck... working on the sunburn!

I was actually hoping that the weather would be cooler (I know take what you can get) as every year the Highland games provides me with my start of the season sun burn even with all the sunblock on.

I'll have my Xmarks kilt pin on and a white rugby jersey.

Could also be all those hours sitting in the sunny beer garden, taunting those poor sober souls working in booths!

It was a gloriously hot sunny day. I am now the same colour as my kilt! (Well the red in it anyway). Got a chance to wear my 'pipes & drum' beaver sporran too. Big Mike has a picture which I am sure he will post eventually.

Dear Mr. Northernsky, was there ever any doubt? But now, I'll make you wait. As has been said, it was a glorious and sunny day. The temperature was a balmy 30C, the beer and cider were nicely chilled and the company was excellent!

My day began at the Tipsy Laird with a nice cuppa and some fresh Timmie's. I was welcomed by the smiling face of Mrs. Colin as the Mr. required some time to "get going". He mentioned something about extensive testing of a brewed beverage the previous evening.

After selecting his outfit for the day (with some expert help from his youngest), Colin and family and myself were off to enjoy the festivities.

After much searching I finally located the vendor of hot food and tucked into a wonderful highland games brekkie: scotch pie, sausage roll, scotch egg and a delicious pale ale.

Just as I was finishing this glorious repast, I was joined by Northernsky and Raphael. Well, it wouldn't do but we had to have a beverage together.int: We had a very nice time talking about kilts, the joys and sorrows of ordering from overseas and some of the best deals we have come across. It was at this time that Northernsky, in a most pleading way, asked that I photograph
his "Pipes'n'DrumsNun" beaver sporran. He wanted to be sure to let her know that he really appreciated her sending it to him and that he was putting it to good use.

Later in the day, we met up with Bear and did a bit more walking. It was odd how all paths led to the area that was serving those deliciously cold adult beverages.

For myself, these games were somewhat typical of all games gatherings. There are pipers, dancers, assorted vendors but what makes the day special is the opportunity to meet with friends, share a drink, tell some lies and generally be happy to be alive.

On that note, although a bit early, to the Canadian rabble, enjoy the Dominion Day holiday and to the rabble in that Unexplored Southern Area, enjoy the Fourth. Stay safe and play nice!
