    Rotating photos

Photos rotated 90 degrees CW or CCW in Photobucket edit function show up "sideways" in forum thread, i.e., as if the rotation was never done. The cropping does come through, and the photo shows in correct orientation when viewed in PB album.

Is this a forum issue or a PB issue? I'm running WinXP and IE 7.x with all updates on a PC. Thanks!

    Here's what happens.

When you upload your photo your computer makes a temporary file of that photo. Whenever you go to look at that particular picture the computer doesn't go to the bother to look at the image where it is being stored. Instead it uses the temporary file. Imagine the temporary file as a "cheat sheet" that allows the image to pop up faster. Even though you have rotated the image at the source, your computer is still using the sideways temporary file.

If you clear your temporary files and then go look at the picture it will be upright because your computer had to go and look at the actual photo at it. It then creates a new temporary file of that image.

    Cheers

Thanks, I know about temp files and it makes no sense that the cropping would show up but the rotation wouldn't. However, I have cleared temp files and the orientation is now correct. . . one more thing that shouldn't work but does! Thanks.
