Maybe brown leather would go better - but somehow the kilt looks a bit dull between the orange shirt and hose.

Perhaps a shade or two softer more browny orange would bring out the beauty of the tartan more.

Or perhaps you need a louder kilt.

With the purple it looked balanced, but that poor kilt is definitely a little out shone by the orangeness of the rest of the ensemble.
