Are you a true Scotsman?
At Kilt's night the other night here in Vancouver, and there were a couple of Scottish young women attending. They were just visiting and couldn't believe all the gents in kilts. One, who must have been about 20, asked me if I was Scottish, I replied as I usually do when asked, that my name is John Fraser Stuart Mackinnon. Ohhh! she squealed you are a Scot! But then she cocked her head and looked quizzicaly and said But are you a 'true' Scotsman? (Ah I thought, THE question at last) I replied that that was for me to know and her to find out. She then put on a pout and asked where I was born. When I replied Vancouver, she said Yer never a true Scotsman! With that she turned and left me in the dust.
Later that evening another (local) woman caught me unaware and lifted my kilt; she then remarked very nice and waltzed away! Ya just can't win for losing...

DNA testing
Just tell them that you have had a DNA test proving you are scotish.. Confuses them all the time
I am looking forward to the next Vancouver Kilt night - sorry to have missed the last one

Good story. I'm wondering if the lady who kilt-checked you went and told her you were a true Scotsman.

Hilarious story!! Reminds me of one I have; Anthony and I were asked to participate in a Romantic Times event many years ago. Romantic Times is a magazine that promotes romance novels. The theme, that year was Scottish novels and they wanted some local "Scots" in full dress. During the course of the day, a female author approached Anthony and asked the "usual question". He answered with something similar to what John said above and she promptly put her hand up the kilt and said "OH MY!!" and walked quickly away!
She should be glad I wasn't around at the time!!
