    Mens' Capri Pants?

I've often mentioned that I've seen a few looks around here that make me think that anybody who gives a kiltie any guff has a hell of a lot of nerve.

Today's Chicago Tribune carried an article about capri pants...both womens' and mens'.

Several of the men who were interviewed while wearing capri pants asserted that they were "just long shorts" and not capri pants.

Sure.....and the check's in the mail...

I'd love to give a link to the article but I just checked the Trib website and its not posted online. If it shows up, I'll do a post with the link so that you can all enjoy it.

    Hmm,

I always called mine knickers, but then I wore them while riding my courier routes. In defense of weird men's fashion, Mine were uncoated Cordura with pockets aplenty. I still have knees today despite several spills.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

I've always called them "clam diggers." I think they look good on some guys - usually slender, beatnik-y guys, but not me.

On the other hand, I think shorts these days have gone entirely too long.

    Rex.

    You mean “pedal-pushers”?

I must have known about kilts even before I knew about kilts.
I’ve always thought that if not full length then pants for men don’t look good if worn with the knees covered or lower.

Knickers were before my time other than maybe baseball or (US) football pants.
    Even then, hose required.

To be called "Shorts" they need to be hemmed at least 3" ABOVE the knee. Anything at the knee are generally called knickers. Anything between the bottom of the knee and the ankle are capris. Simple.I fully understand the popularity of men's capris among the younger men around Boston. Even if some misuse the name "shorts". I have often wondered when they refer to their shorts whether they mean the capris or the boxers that are displayed above them.

No...I've seen shorts that were intentionally long shorts...they had photos of these guys standing next to women who were wearing capri pants and the pantses was identical...unisex, so to speak.
