FWIW, officers of the RHR ( Black Watch ) did not wear red and white diced hose; rather they wore red and black .

During the 18th century officers and other ranks of the RHR wore red and white diced hose If I remember correctly, the red and black diced hose (worn by all ranks -- see Nevill's "The Scottish Regiments" by Europa Publishing) is a 19th century adoption.
