On a more serious note
We are all ready seeing modern updates on the traditional kilt and kit.
Alex (cessna152touser) has a tradional kilt whose wool tartan has been sprayed or impregnated with a water/stain repellent.
Steve (The Wizard of BC) makes tradtional kilts with hidden pockets.
Jerry (Sciuropterus) designed and had produced a sporran that took the traditional design and updated it with practical comparents and modern materials.
Cold Steel used to make a sgian dubh out of tough modern materials using modern manufacturing methods that held to the style of the traditional ones (sorry folks that model is discontinued)
The future is now

But the tartan of my wool kilt will be out of date:
it's the Twenty-First Century tartan from Geoffrey...

And the advertising industry would hop onboard and we'd see ads for almost everything! Where's my AdBlock?

Anyone that has a cat like yours that wears Jammies, night cap, bunny slippers, and drinks coffee in the morning can not be all there.
I have a dog but he only drinks coffee, but i must confess he does wear a kilt now an then.

I like Ron's idea best. Sense is anything BUT common today, sadly.
I could go for a fabric that was genuinely fireproof, but not unpleasant to wear.
