    For something to use to try the traditional kiltmaking this should work if you base the sett on the red stripes and possibly pleat to the red stripe. If you are using Barb T's book, it will help learn the ins and outs of her instructions on some real inexpensive fabric. I have one in an all cotton of a similar type "tartan" that I use as an around the house kilt. The fabric is to light to trust in a breeze, so it used for when I step from the shower, until I get my day kit on.

    I like the pattern a lot. I don't recognize it as any major pattern that I've seen. I've got a noname pattern kilt as well, got it off ebay. it is similar to the irish revenge from sportkilt but minus the greenish color. It is the kilt in my avatar.
