    Oh I didn't mean the posh stuff as worn for getting yourself on the TV with the quin smirking when your 'oss starts cavorting around on two legs, don't cha know.

    The ordinary khaki/navy blue/airforce blue uniforms are rather rough stuff.

    Mister Lindell's tunic has a sheen to it, so it must be smoother than the Major's khaki.

    Well, each to their own,but I rather prefer the Khaki.When I see a sheen on cloth, that says to me perhaps wrongly, well used and nearly worn out!

    I was more struck by the different attitudes the two seem to convey with their stance.

    The thing is they don't wear it to get on TV it is their daily working gear like a painter wears dungees
