    Too stunned to speak

Of lot of X-Markers seem to get the "Nice skirt!" comment. But have any of you noticed a silent caught-in-the-headlights reaction from passersby? Sort of like this:

I have gotten it a few times. If it comes from a woman I just smile & say "thanks" or if I thinks she knows better & is just picking fun I say, in my best Scot accent "Aye, you're a lassie. At's the only way ya' can get away wit that."

If it comes from a man I hit hard & fast with the comment back. And it is always a bad insult. I WILL cross lines that are thought of as VERY taboo. I figure if he will, then so will I.

I will bring sexual preference, race & anything else I happen to think of into the equation.

Yeah, I've done the same. I will continue to do the same.

So being a cat lover and proud friend to four o' the wee beasties, I have to say that I love that picture. It's hilarious.

Depending on the person, I may just say sharply, "It's a kilt."

Or, if I'm in a playful mood, I may look down and say, "Oh My God! Where are my pants!"

I usually don't say anything about my kilt unless someone says something about it first. If I get a silent stare I generally just ignore it.

    Thumbs up

I was wearing my kilt this past week while trail hiking in Colorado (note: pictures posted). I received several comments as well, non too harsh. Several surprisingly enough commented that "man that's a good idea" It was a bit warm out and I was very comfortable, even in a wool kilt!! I posted several of the pix on another forum I'm a member of and also was a target! My response was short but direct, "kilts were worn LONG before jeans and boots". Low and behold to my defense several of the members joined up and revealed that they too are kilt wearing people. They posted their wedding and assorted pix, TOO COOL!! We exchanged web URL's and this site was listed, very nice! All in all, I dig wearing my kilt and look forward to wearing it again, as well as acquiring another!!

I have gotten the sideways look before. Mostly from other guys. Usually the ladies are none to shy to make a nice comment. I recently had a kilt altered (I'll never go there again) and while I was waiting, another customer commented that she loves a man in a kilt. But what happened to me the other day I think takes the cake. I overheard the ladies in RM (with cubicles it's easy to overhear loud laughter) and went to investigate. They all love when I wear my kilt, and one of the ladies had skirt issues. It seems that the split in her skirt split even more. Way more than she wanted. So everyone was joking when one of them said, "don't listen to him, he wears a kilt". Then came The Question. Well, after having listened to Barleyjuice at Grandfather Mountain I could only think of their song "What's up yours". So before I could stop myself, I replied with "I'm hiding the Loch Ness Monster". Needless to say I walked away very red faced with the sound of raucous laughter following behind me.

I've done that, accompanied with spinning around in frenzied circles, staring down at my waist. I ham it up as much as possible.
