Earlier this year when another member of our Renissance fair community died and also had a Masonic service, there were a number of men in attendance wearing PCs and Jabot shirts along with their military service ribbons and did not look overly formal IMO.

PC with (miniature)medals and decorations is generally considered formal attire, Robert. I wouldn't wear it to a funeral, though. A plain black jacket is far better suited for the occasion, or if one only has a tweed jacket, a black armband would signify mourning.
