Horrible Kilt Weather

Bleh... Here in Phoenix, Arizona we are currently in the middle of what we call our "Monsoon" season. We get most of our rain for the year during this season, and when it actually does rain, it's my favorite time of the year, but when it's not actually raining it can be the most miserable.

Locally this means that it will be super hot during the day, approximately 108-110 degrees, with little to no cloud cover. Then in the early evening thick clouds will roll in, and MAYBE if we're lucky it'll drop some rain on the valley. When it does rain and storm it'll usually come down extremely hard from anywhere from 5 minutes to 3-4 hours.

Now what does this all mean for going kilted? 110 Degree heat, high humidity (approximately 80-90%), and direct sunlight that could fry an egg on the concrete (I'm not kidding, I've tried, and it works). AKA miserable.

The sweat accumulation underneath the kilt is almost unbearable for anyone out here that goes regimental. The plus side is there is normally at least 8-10 mph winds so the draft helps, but it's nowhere near enough.

Anyways, I just wanted to vent, and to also open up this thread for everyone to share what they consider horrible kilt weather in your area.

Don't get me wrong, all weather is ok for kilt wearing, whether it be -10degrees or 120 degrees. I just want to know what's the worse weather you experience in your area.

That sounds like the Atlanta area all summer long... Maybe not as high as the 110's, but the upper 90's and 100% humidity is the norm here.

I live in Florida. I understand the heat and humidity problem 100%. As comfortable it is to go regimental, the fact is, sometimes it just isn't practical. But that is no reason not to wear the kilt. Get some boxer briefs and you'll be good and comfortable despite the heat and humidity.

*** on this for Houston too. And with Dolly's winds whipping through here yesterday, it was a no-no to try and go outside in a kilt yesterday.

I just started wearing boxer breifs not too long ago. I have not worn them with my kilt because it feels weird. However like you said, it's almost becoming way more practical to do that during this time of year. The jury is still out though on whether or not I'll do it.

Try wearing mesh underwear. Dillards sells some nice stuff.
It helps even when wearing pants and shorts.

While not much in comparison to, say, Wyoming, it can get mighty windy here in Northern Colorado. That's been the worst to deal with. Always on guard with my aprons flying up. The back? Well, that's what they get for living in a free society!

Yeah its windy around here too, often gusts of over 40, or even 50 mph. I find cargo pockets and an under apron pocket can take care 3/4 of the kilt, but I don't have a solution for the back.

It's also hot and humid here, but upper 80's can't compare with 100+

Most people would probably consider 10-20 below zero with strong winds to be horrible, but as far as I'm concerned, that's heaven.

Here in the Ohio River Valley area, we regularly are in the high 90s temp. and high 80s-90s humidity for our summers, starting in mid June and lasting all the way to mid August.

So far this year, we've been in the high 90s continuosly for about 5 weeks now.

As an aside, I lived in Phoenix for 2 years between 2005-06 and the heat is brutal, but as long as you get in the shade, as mentioned, the breeze cools you off in no time.

But, the very day we planned to move back to Indiana in 2006, the temperature hit that year's record on July 21st at a whopping 118 in the shade. And there I was loading our trailer...I about died 5 times or so.
