    My First Utilikilt (Mocker)

I received my first Utilikilt today. It is a preowned Mocker I got from eBay for just under $80 with shipping. This one looks to be in great condition. For what they sell for new and used I believe that I got a very good deal. Wow, after wearing four SWK kilts this is a different item to wear. Not bad, but different. The material is soft and I like how the pleats are stitched. That should be a big plus when it needs pressing. I do wish the to top two snaps were at the waist band. The end corners of the apron want to rest above the top edge. A belt fixes that with no problem (belly). I have rather small hands and I find the pocket openings to be very small. With this kilt being used before I can see some slight strain at the stitching at one end of one of the pockets. Anyone else had this experience? One thing that I do not care much for the looks of, but works great is the narrow apron when you set down. With the legs spread just a bit the apron drops all by itself to a very vertical angle.

I think that I will like the kilt very much, but I am concerned about using the pockets.

I did not have time for pictures tonight. I will try tomorrow night.
    Later,
    Natester

Congrats on the new kilt. It's nice to have something low-maintenance. Utilikilts are very convenient.

I haven't noticed the pockets tight on my mockers, but maybe they just are, OR someone stitched part of the pocket closed for some reason.

Also when you wash the kilt, you don't need to press it, and don't use the dryer. Just hang it up and "press out" or flatten the pleats with your hands. Do that a few times while it is drying and also pull the pleats at the bottom to prevent curl, but hold the top of the kilt with the other hand or you pull it off what ever is holding it up to dry.

Good luck and show us a picture, if you want.

    DALE.

The sticking to the pocket does not appear to be modified. There is a tag stating the date of manufacture as June of 2005. I would be curious to to compare the details of the Utilikilt to a new one to see what differences exist.

Steven is constantly tinkering. UKs change fairly often. Two of my UKs don't have waist snaps, but the newer does.
A seamstress can easily fix your pocket problem cheap- less than $20.
    Enjoy it!

Back in 2005 they also jobbed out a lot of their orders to local cut and sew shops (I'm pretty sure) so there could be some quality variations. There was also a period in there where they didn't much have an inspection department to look over the kilt quality before they shipped them out. I've had a couple UK Mockers with pocket problems, but they were scratch and dent and was warned...and they were the back pockets. Just used that iron on stick stuff to reinforce and no problems.

No front pocket problems. Mocker's preppy up real well with sweaters, even neck ties, if you wanna dress that way.

I own a couple different UKs I'm sure you'll be pleased with yours. I prefer mine over all my traditionals.

Here are two pictures of me in the UK Mocker that I received yesterday. I was going to post two more, but for some reason the picture rotates when I post it. It is correct at its location, but here it is incorrect. (Technology......this is why I drive a 27 year old Mercedes)
