I came across this place while trolling through e-bay. They are selling ghillie brogues for £20 ($40) as well as other items which seem really cheap. It may be useful for someone starting out without too much cash. I don't really approve of these phoney places pretending to be something they're not (a la Gold Bros for instance) but this crowd seem quite up front about being based in Pakistan. Purchased a rabbit sporran from them in Feb 07 -- most affordable source I could locate for one with a gilt cantle. It's very nice quality for the price (although the included sporran strap had silver-color chain that we swapped out to match the gilt). Communication was excellent, shipped quickly, and included a little extra "gift" with order -- a nice little embroidered thistle patch. They sent the merch labelled as "sample" IIRC so no question about duty payment -- not my idea, and I wonder how long they think they can continue to dodge the system in that way.

Anyway, for budget goods that (as you say) don't pretend to be what they aren't, I had a very good experience with them and would purchase from them again.

Looking at the pictures those are some pretty nice kilts. Alot heavier then what i was expecting. I didn't see anything about shipping to this side of the pond though.

I would be extremely leery ordering shoes from this site. When ordering shoes by mail I have almost never gotten a pair that fit right on the first try. For one thing, there is apparently no standardization of lasts for the shape of the shoe. The second is that is all but impossible to translate UK sizing into US. The only way to be sure of a good fit is to try the shoe on. I have so far, not found a pair of Gillie Brogues which will fit my celtic feet. (the second & third toes are longer than the great toe, the fourth the same length). I wind up buying either square toed shoes when I find them, or going up to a 13 EE (which is too long but doesn't cramp my toes! I am abut to try some semi-local mail order places, sending them a tracing of my foot and see what happens. At least the return shipping would be more reasonable J

Just thought of this, There is a rental place in Atlanta that sells Gillie Brogues for $65. I imagine by the time the $40 ones came from Pakistan the price would be comparable and the return postage if they didn't fit much less.

One thing that irks me about them is the name. I can't help but think that they are trying to use that one because of the very reputable kiltmaker of that same name. Geoffrey (Tailor) is known to many on this forum, and I have my tanks from him. He is also a major voice against the cheap import kilt shops in Scotland.

I wonder if this is the Gold Bros. way of getting back at him.

I don't think people should be so quick to jump to conclusions about those involved in the rag trade (which includes all purveyors of kilts, as well as companies like D&G, Hugo Boss, and A&F, etc). There are lots of companies with the same or similar name (how many "Curl Up and Dye" hair salons are there in the USA???) without any of them attempting to mislead or deceive customers. I doubt anyone on this site would confuse a mail order business in Pakistan with a retail shop in Edinburgh.

Or with a conspiracy pitting one merchant against another.

It's not the people on this site who might be confused. There are a lot of men out there who have gotten kilts (traditional or acrylic) without knowing about this site. Maybe it's fair to say that most American men who kilt don't know about us. I have no idea.

But those who don't share in this forum might not have the knowledge to distinguish. That's why search engines need to be used with caution.

Hey Y'all-
I think that this company has actually been around since the 50's. Its my belief that the Pakistani and Indian companies are starting to focus in on bringing a little quality to their product. I have spent the last 6 months getting different kits together for my return to piping and 1/2 of the items are from this company and another like him. The quality is fine and I have no problem. The feather bonnet AND WW1 replica Tam o Shanter (Both from What Price Glory who has his stuff manufactured over there) are of first rate quality hands down. AND, for the penny pincher like myself, the cost was 1/2 to 2/3 LESS than I would have payed at UK/CAN manufactured costs.

I say give it a shot, email and really make a point about shoe size. If they do UK size, than its a size lower than yours. 20 quid is awesome for ghillies...
