But it was because of the new dress code that I actually started wearing kilts, in true rebel form.

The reactions I've gotten are that plenty of the women really like it. Men don't say anything, but a couple have joked around with me about it. Management has, of course, been tight-lipped. I've overheard my two supervisors talking about how they can't say anything because it is within dress code (the reasoning is that our dress code is non-gender specific, and skirts are allowed.)

I'm hoping to make more of a habit out of it, at least during the hot summer months. Today was actually so hot, that they sent out an email saying that we can wear shorts tomorrow because it's supposed to be just as hot. I try to make a point with my kilt to the other guys that I get to wear it regardless of when management decides it's hot enough, but they're all pretty much too afraid to be different.
That's good that they haven't made a big deal out of it and I'm sure you are probably looking sharper than most of the others there when you wear your kilts.

Even though I live in a tropical clime, my workplace is actually TOO COLD for a kilt. The air conditioning is turned up so high my knees would freeze.

    kilted at work

Today I went to work kilted for the first time. It was a teacher pre-planning day and I thought since it was Aug. 1st and proscription day that it would be a good time to start. It was quite warm. I had to move from my previous classroom just down the hall and had no difficulty even being kilted. I was wearing an SWK standard weathered MacKinsie. I had good comments from my teacher mates. Our counselor did give me some good hearted kidding. One of my teacher friends spent time in Scotland in her younger days and did not know about the proscription act of 1747. Being that she is our history teacher she made a mental note not forget in the future. The next work day I think I will be kilted again.

    Have a blessed day

The HR Dept. at my office stated that is was OK for me to wear my kilt "it fits in with our dress code because it goes down to your knee. We can't have you showing any thigh up in here".

I am SO glad to be self employed. Dress code, sheesh.

How did it go with kilted friday ? The day is mostly over, I'm havin' a pint (and may have to go out to get more).

It's sizzling hot over here in the desert. I've been shredding mulch materiels all week and I have to keep stopping to let the machine and me cool off. Probably drinking a couple of gallons of water a day too...

I guess I could wear a kilt, but I need leg protection... I don't want to get dirt all over a kilt either.

Hope your kilted Frieday goes well.

I work on computer for a living ( as the name implies) when I first wore the kilt to work I checked with HR to make sure that it would not be an issue. the lady in HR said that even if the company wanted to do something about it they could not because since our dress code allows women to wear skirts to not allow me to wear a kilt would be gender discrimination and is federally protected. Then she gave me a wink and told me that I had nice legs and that didn't hurt anything either.lol. so on St. Andrews day last fall I got a bunch of my buddies that work here that have kilts to wear theirs and we all went parading through the building. Since then we have had a much more relaxed environment at work, and as a side note since everyone is more relaxed productivity has gone up. just one more good reason that they should want you to wear your kilt to work. ( Oh about the only time that I don't wear my kilt to work is when I have to be in the server lab, it has floor mounted air exchangers for cooling the racks(think Marylin Monroe))

I never really asked for permission. The Jews, Arabs, Africans, all other ethnic groups, wear their cultural items. I did get some resistance from one of the company owners at first, so I told him that if I couldn't wear my kilt, I would make a cultural discrimination complaint with HR. That did the trick. He's now mad at me again, because his fiance wants to have a Scottish wedding because of me. He refused, and it apparently caused a little friction.
