I should clarify about the touch rugby. The season here is from September to March so a lot of the local clubs hold touch games during the summer to keep in shape. I have been speaking with the Captain of my closest team locally and he advised that it would be a great way to learn the game before adding the contact in the fall.
At the very least, touch will get you fit, hone your timing, and abilities to pass both ways, which is always important, also it will teach you about running into space etc...

Are there any 7's teams there as well, that would be even better, i enjoyed it more than touch due to the "contact" nature of the game.

I played for years, since school in fact. I mostly played flanker/blind-side wing forward (when it was known as that), and latterly inside centre. I split my chin (3 stitches) in Singapore playing for Army Far East. I'm now just a supporter (of Ospreys, or Wales as it's sometimes known!), though I have a t-shirt that says "I support two teams, Scotland and anyone who plays England"

LOL - being part Irish and having a fiancee who's Argentinean, I'm quite familiar with that concept.

/loves rugby. I'll be looking for a team in these parts next summer.

I was supposed to play yesterday, but with the rain and the 5 year old with a tummya che that only wanted Daddy, I had to give it a miss.

Next week for sure. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Its good to see that the northern hemisphere is starting to adopt the game with vigour,

p.s. All Blacks smashed the wallabies last night (39-10), vengence is so sweet...

Former Lock Forwrd/2nd Row here, almost made a come back last spring.

I forgot about the conditioning aspect, and was really sucking wind after the first 10 minutes. Back to the cardio for a while before I try again!
