And what about the so called new 'government tartan' that the RRS is supposed to start wearing now, it is similar to the black watch but is 2 shades of blue.
Any time frame for that?

Jock~
You wear the uniform well, sir! Quite handsome! I feel proud just looking at your pics!
Re: SF everywhere... With respect to the fine members/veterans of the USMC, I've met only about 40% of Marines who did not claim to have been Recon. The USMC is enough of an elite organization that men shouldn't claim Recon. No, I'm not Marine bashing; every branch has these guys. It just seems that in my experience almost every Marine I meet was Recon. I've turned it into the same sort of joke. The grunts & mechanics have every right to be proud of their service in an outstanding institution.

How great would it be to have a great kilt revival? To imagine all of the great armies of the Commonwealth (+the US and Ireland) having kilted regiments and permitting Highland Wear in place of mess dress.

The 6th Battalion was awarded France’s highest military honour, the Croix de Guerre, for its gallantry in July 1918 in clearing the Germans from the village of Chambrecy against great odds at the end of seven days of continuous fighting under the eyes of the French. The CDG is pinned on the Colours of 6/7 Bn in Balhousie Castle Perth. In addition to the lanyard CDG medal ribbons are worn on the sleeves of the Highland Jacket.

In my monitor, your original photos looked green/blue on the tartan, while this latest photo looks in 2 hues of blue.
Either way, you look smashing in either one.
Good on you and stay safe
