The denim came from Borowicks in Soho, I;m sure we've mentioned them before, a positive haven of unusual fabrics, Ibought it a few months ago, and for a long time I wasn't sure if I had the nerve to make a kilt out of it, as on the bolt , it was SO bright!

The kilt has 20 pleats with a high waist ,traditional styled, but with a pocket on the edge of the under apron, just behind the fringe. I didn't cut away the inside of the pleats ( I seldom do on a contemporary one) but it does have a good firm feeling akin to a back support, but that was good on Saturday as I was on my feet almost all day!

We ended up on the beach with fish and chips, but this year we didn't go skinny-dipping, as we thought the combination of the cold and the wind were just too much!

Let me know Hamish, and I'll see if they have have any left!! and I;ll add it too the bottle of Woolite!!

Hi Paul,

I had quite forgotten about Borowicks fabric shop in Berwick Street - I used to go there frequently back in the 60's when I was responsible for the window displays at our Jermyn Street perfumery. Many thanks for the kind offer but in a couple of weeks I am going up to London for an interview and will make a point of making a nostalgic return visit to Soho.

Take care,
Ham.
