Thank you so much for the post. The pictures were great, and the video a treat.

Yes it was a good day out, despite being a bit damp in the morning. There were some great Highland outfits on display in the crowd and it's a pity I didn't take my camera along as well. I didn't see the Scottish Country Dance display as I was at the other end of the arena watching the pipe bands. I also spent a lot of time propping up the bar at the Knatterjack Somerset 'scrumpy' cider stall (I am Anglo Scottish after all !)
Sorry I didn't see you, I would have come over and said "Hello".
The Kilt is my delight !

I sampled the 8.4% dry cider too! No wonder we couldn't spot one another!

To be fair, I can't see you too well in your avatar and so would have found it hard to pick you out. And as you say, there were many kilt outfits on show. A true delight.

Here's one outfit I rather admired on the day (albeit from the rear).

......... and the Galloway, Hunting, Muted tartan!

I recently ordered this from Geoffrey (Tailor), Edinburgh as kilt No. 92, 93 or 94 (depending upon the order in which new kilts are delivered!), and which is expected in October. Thanks for the pleat shot Martin.

    Take care,

    Ham.

Isn't it strange how things work out. I live in Warwick and my parents live in Harpenden. Small world.

What/when is the Harpenden Gathering you are referring to, please?

The Harpenden Highland Gathering usually takes place on the second Sunday in July - it is on 12th July in 2009 - in Rothamsted Park.

Here is a link to the thread featuring photos of this year's event:

Perhaps you should meet up with Martin and travel over together next July!

    Take care,
    Ham.

Martin, Freddie and Tetley, I am sometimes in the Banbury area which would make four of us in roughly the same part of the UK. Hows about a kilt night/meet somewhen?

That sounds a great idea. We're all within a toss of the caber of one another. (well, almost).
