I was quite surprised to see the pipe band, certainly not expected it in Dark Knight. Was fun since I was kilted too. Also, I must say, I do think it was fantastic and far exceeded my expectations as a film.

I tried to get in to see The Dark Knight on opening night, but all the theatres were sold out. So I saw it the next day, as well as Mama Mia!, which I really liked (though I am very irritated at their extremely ignorant presentation of a Greek Orthodox church).

Pipers and kilts are almost always associated with lots of action.

Way better than begins IMO. Actually I think it should have been called "The Joker" as that character pretty much stole the show. I always had problems viewing the Joker as an arch-villain, finding him slightly too laughable. No more: Ledger's Joker was the perfect picture of a psychotic sociopath. In fact, he may just replace Frank Booth as my new role model!!!!

Went to see it last night following it's hype. I don't remember any other batman changing his voice as he changed into the bat outfit. It reminded me of Clint Eastwood's voice in Dirty Harry. A bit unneccessary I thought. I also found Gary Oldman a bit hard to understand at times, voice a bit quiet. Found it entertaining but not Oscar winning.

I saw it last night as well. Unfortunately, the music was so loud I missed half the dialog, as though Hans Zimmer's overwrought score was more important than the story itself. People have been raving about this one, saying it is three times better than the last one, Batman Begins, but I preferred the earlier one for its character development and stage-play-like scenes. I thought Dark Knight was unnecessarily violent. Disturbing, yes, and the Joker was Evil Incarnate, but I wish the terror was more psychological and less physical. It certainly had the potential of going there.

    One thumb down,
    Rex.

The pipe band in the movie is the Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Police Department.

Whatever you want to call them, here's their site.*
I'm just surprised that no one had identified the tartan as Earl of St. Andrews yet.

*Given the number of films over the years that have substituted Canadian cities for American ones during filming, I thought that the band would have been Canadian.

I'm used to seeing a lone piper at certain ceremonies, but an entire pipe band was a bit of a surprise.
