Interesting that the kilted intellectual was unable to see that the marriage was doomed to failure due to his bride's intellectual inferiority.
For those of you tuning in late, not paying close attention, or who haven't had their coffee yet this comment is known as :
SARCASM!
Being a father of two I can't tell you the respect and admiration I have for ALL of my children's teachers.

Shameful.
Brilliantly put Phil! Let's hope that we can all stick to the REAL issue here, that a company is producing trademarked/ copyrighted material (s) without permission.

Can we get back on thread here please? The real point is the shameful way these people conduct their business. I have read elsewhere how they label their goods "Designed in Scotland" which can only be to dupe people into thinking they are buying genuine goods and their shoddy fabrics are actually a dangerous fire hazard. Believe me I cringe every time I pass one of their many shops. I used to think selling little dolls dressed up in tartan to tourists was tacky but it was nothing compared to this. Not to mention the loud music blaring out constantly.

I've never been to Edinburgh but I can imagine how much it must detract from the city.
It's too bad that they haven't gotten enough negative exposure to truly affect their business. Or that the tourists aren't informed well enough to know what it is that they are really being sold.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

When you visit Edinburgh and see what they have done to the character of the Royal Mile (and now increasingly Princes St too) by trading on ignorance and appealing to tourist wallets you really do get a flavour of how they trade.
Anything for a quick buck and real Scottish culture and craftsmanship be damned. To them any tartan they think will catch the eye is fair game. Even those protected by copyright as we saw with the IOS.
I have seen the Diana tartan in a reputable shop and must confess it doesn't appeal to me in any case but the point is that a percentage went to her charities. I doubt that they are sending a contribution from their sales.

I'm afraid I don't understand Gold Brothers' need to flout international copyright law when there are a legion of unrestricted tartans to choose from.

Sorry you feel that way. I was in no way trying to say that only the highly intelligent are deserving of respect, merely explaining why I did not think they were highly compatible. As we all know, there is more to what happened than merely the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana themselves, and probably much that we will never know. My viewpoint is merely that the media at the time were very pro Princess Di and therefore not very sympathetic to Prince Charles' point of view. Of course, there are many reasons why someone can lack formal education and still be very intelligent, but few such people are born into the aristocracy, as Princess Di was. I pointed out that nursery school is not kindergarten just to dispel the mistaken notion that some people had acquired that she was a qualified teacher, not to put her down, but just to explain. Sorry I said anything atall. I was mainly addressing my comment to the person who posted before my earlier post, partially agreeing with him, but trying to say that the loss of income to the charity is the real issue, in case we should lose sight of that.

As Panache pointed out, I don't feel like that. The main issues here are: a) that the Gold Bros are accused of using a copyrighted tartan without permission and b) that Princess Di's charities are allegedly suffering because of a).
