Friends don't let friends get flash.
Please define "flash" for the reference impaired ? In other words, me. Thanks in advance.

Flash are the nondescript, predesigned images pasted all over the walls of the tattoo studio, or available online that you and everybody else can order, rather than a design that's a collaboration between you and an artist that you choose. They're intended IMO for people who just "want a tattoo" but haven't thought about it, so they stumble into a studio (they probably call it a parlor) and pick something that they'll likely regret later (especially after they see it on a few dozen other people), done by the shop apprentice because the accomplished artists are booked up with repeat customers who know and appreciate their work.
I hope I don't sound like a tattoo snob ...

Makes perfect sense to me, I just wasn't familiar with the terminology. I am familiar with the myriad images to which you refer though.
I like original collaborative efforts a lot better.
I guess I am a snob too then, eh ?

and me 4, but I do understand that unless you teach someone about the difference in Custom work and mass printed flash then you cant hold it against them, sorta like kilts
when I see ppeople with bad ink I just ask them if theve ever thought about custom work and refer them to a good artist.

Well of course it is a process to be educated about tattoo like anything else.
I never really had any desire for ink when I was younger. Then I got to know a couple of very talented people who do tattooing for a living, and it became more interesting over time. But really, it was more an outgrowth of the friendship with the artists than a desire for tattoos, at least to begin with.
Both, now, I guess. Though I have yet to find a third artist I am interested in getting ink from. Perhaps time will find me another, or not.

Here's the start of mine. I go back in at the end of the month for touch-up, filling, and shading.

Edit - got it finished up.
