Speak your mind about Kilt Wearing
Hi, I'm producing a one time netcast on Kilt wearing and kilt makers in the modern US. I've already spoken to several kilt makers and now I'd like to get the opinions and insight of people who wear kilts as an everyday garment.
In the way of a little background information, I'm new to this forum but I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now. My wife bought me a utilikilt about a year ago, and I've only recently started wearing it around the house.
If you'd like your opinion to be heard (literally, as I'm recording voice interviews) please pm me or respond to this thread. And, if you're not from the US, please don't let that stop you from contacting me.
Thanks

You certainly came to the right place for opinions on kilts! Since you've been lurking for a couple of weeks, you should know we're not shy about talking & talking & talking about this subject!

Welcome from Boulder CO!
Do you have anything specific in mind regarding "opinions and insight"? As you've no doubt learned, lots of opinion and insight can be found on this forum.
It's interesting to me how much differing opinion there is regarding wearing the kilt, actually. As someone who wears the kilt nearly full-time and has only one "traditional" kilt, it's interesting to read comments from others who have strong opinions on how to wear a kilt (e.g. "proper" wearing).
As I'm sure you will find out (if you haven't already), kiltwearers are not "lemmings". For me, bucking convention feels "right". I suspect that is true for many others as well.

Seeing as how this is your first post, wouldn't it be fair to ask you to share a bit about yourself? You're new to kiltwearing, so what should we know about your attitudes toward the concept? You seem a little shy about it. This is a netcast, you say? Are you a reporter? A performance artist? What's the nature of your completed project? Who is your intended audience? What rights are you granting your interview subjects?
Oh, and welcome to XMTS, of course.
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Hello, And sorry for the delay on getting back to this post.
Rex_Tremende: I am a Systems Administrator who runs his own website and dabbles in audio and video. I don't make any claims at being a reporter except on my own projects. The netcast would end up on my website, and its audience would be my audience which varies quite a bit.
You say I seem a bit shy, but I think it comes from an attempt to maintain objectivity - which I hope gives some insight into the nature of the piece. I hope to create an objective and fair look at kilts as a modern, if not yet widely accepted, fashion choice.
As far as rights are concerned, my website is under a Creative Commons copyright (specifically by-nc-sa) and you're free to look at those rights - although I can summarize it by saying that they're not exactly tight or restricting in any way.
I use skype to conduct the interviews and record the phone calls. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of the non-conventional kilt-wearer, and hear a little bit about what it's like to wear one full time.
I'll be keeping a closer eye on this forum, and feel free to pm me or you can track me down at my website (which is listed in my profile)
Thanks again,
Justin
