    First Kilted Hike

Last week my wife and I hiked up to the M above the university campus here. It was the first time I wore a kilt (khaki sport kilt with a SWK brown sporran) on a hike. It was quite a hot day and I really appreciated the breeze. Here are some pics.

Us at the top. (I forgot to ask for a full head-to-toe shot.)

Here's the best full length shot of me, unfortunately it's from the back.

The sporran worked perfectly to keep my aprons down, but there was one high wind incident with the back of my kilt. I'm pretty sure my wife was the only person to see, well maybe one other woman. I guess I've got to consider adding some weight to the pleats.

A great afternoon--kilted is the only way to hike!

I envy you the ability to take hikes in the great outdoors. That is no longer physically possible for me. So enjoy it to the fullest! I loved the pictures of the scenery. As an aside I recommend the British comedy Last of the Summer Wine for the scenery of Yorkshire, and of course Monarch of the Glen for the scenery shots of the highlands.int:

Hey, I know that hill! My folks are from Montana and both graduates U of M in the 40s. Took, my mother back there about seven years ago, before she died, but after she lost her mind. She still had her long term memory though and gave us a campus tour of the old buildings.

Don't worry about the wind. Just hike more and get used to how the wind plays with the pleats. We guys aren't used to dealing with wind. Practice practice practice.

    You'll get it.
