Richmond, Va. Area Kilt Night- DEC. 2008

I am looking for interested kilters in the Richmond area (or Central Eastern Seaboard), who may be interested in having a kilt night out, in the Richmond vacinity arounf the firt or second Sat. in December, 2008.

Thinking there: IF it were a few months out, you could plan better for the time/ save up for gas-lodging-wild time. Early in December, you might make a day out of it, and get a little Christmas shopping done as well as have a quaint evening with fellow kilters.

I'll be checking out a few places when I hit the Richmond Highland Games, and post a couple of suggestions........ Of course, I'm always open for suggestions, too!!

How soon we forget! Click here.

The first Saturday in December will be the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk. I plan to attend, and would find a trip the same day or night before, too much. Then you get into Christmas events that would dwindle down those who may want to attend. Jerry has mentioned a Kilt Night in conjucntion with the Williamsburg Festival. I am assuming the Saturday 10/4. St Andrews falls on a Sunday 11/30. The Saturday before is the weekend after Thanksgiving.
So, maybe a Saturday in November? But if December it is to be, pick a Saturday.

Sorry, not to hijack the thread, but have you spoken with GatorNEck since then?

As for suggestions for a Richmond Kilt night, I've always been a fan of the Capitol Ale House (any location is fine). It's not actually a Celtic-themed pub, but it's good!

He attended Burns Night with us. Haven't talked to him since calling him in late winter and finding him on tour in CA.

That's why I asked for input!! November would be great, too! Something after Thanksgiving, would work best for me........ 11/29, in anticipation of St.Andrew"s Day???

Once again, I would suggest something to coincide with the Richmond Highland Games and Celtic Festival the weekend of October 25 and 26. Many of our members will already be in Richmond for the games, so a kilt night wouldn't involve another trip to Richmond. With gas prices as high as they are, making one trip for two events is more practical.

I'm in folks. As I posted in the events forum I would be glad to contact some of the local pub's proprietors to see if I can set something up for a group of us if that makes sense. It certainly would be good to meet you folks in person.

Richmond Games sounds good, too! I'll be out on family vacation fro the next week and a half, so, a few ideas on location would be great! Something close to the Raceway? Does that exist?? The next best location I was thinking about, was a pub near the Church Hill area....... right next to the Richmond farmer market. Good food, and decent drinks.....I'll have to get the name of the place, and address, from a good buddy of mine who always goes to the Games with me. He's a Gordon, but I don't hold that against him! ;)
