my first Xkilt
Okay, as promised, here are pictures of my first DIY kilt. These were taken the night I finished the major build, I have since added belt loops. I wore it to the post show party for my event on Friday, but, alas, dead camera batteries, so I guess it didn't really happen.
I plan to wear this, and to finish a matching one for my son to wear, to the NorCal kilt night at DCB next Friday; wish me luck. I am really looking forward to meeting some of you in the flesh and introducing Scooby(my boy) to Sinbad and Xena.
cheers,
Bob

Looks great! Almost a saffron color. The waist band looks comfortable. What type of material is it?
Cheers!

I've been choosing to call it "Weathered Saffron" to celebrate my (distant) Irish roots. The material is called chevron cloth, it's usually used for inexpensive theatrical drapes; I picked up some seconds for nothing that were used as packing material from our supplier. I think it's all cotton.
I have some black as well, but I did the saffron first for practice. I also have some finer grained black I want to use for a knife pleat; so many projects, so little time.

Marvelous! Now we have to come up with something brighter to wear, so you don't feel too conspicuous. Hmm....Loud Macleod anyone?!
Be well,

I figure green accompaniments will soften the look, or did you mean for your contingent? The bright blue you and Panache wear and Xena's yellow should put us in good company!
