Who said it would be inappropriate? I must admit that I'm somewhat out of my element in saying what is or isn't acceptable as wedding attire in Scotland (I'm assuming?). Still, you are the father of the bride-if your daughter wants you in trews, then who cares what others think? It's her day after all. If she would prefer a kilt, then you have an excellent excuse to pick up a lovely and versatile garment!

I'd check with the lady in question. OTH it is an excellent excuse to get a quality kilt, just in case you need one.

As a fellow Robertson wearer, by all means, get a kilt properly made.

If you don't want to drop the full bag for a 9 yard wool kilt, contact Rocky at USAkilts.com and have him make you one in Polyviscose.

We wore them for my sons wedding, in July, and they were not only sharp and inexpensive, but much more comfortable than the wool in the summer heat.

And no one could tell, including veteran kilt wearers (we had about 30 guys in kilts at the wedding - it was a blast!)

    And finally, congratulations!

I don't have much to compare, but I have been very pleased with the kilt I purchased from them. (They came highly recommended by a family friend who opeartes a Scottish goods shop in NH.)

    Good day in Edinburgh

What a nice day. Myself , the bride to be Daughter Louise and her chief bridesmaid her sister Leanne.
We drove the 160 miles from Hartlepool with a 6am start, to arrive at Princess Street, Edinburgh. We settled on Hector Russell of 95 Princess Street.

I have to say that we had first class service from the moment we stepped into the shop until we walked out again. Although we had no intention of buying anything today and we said from the start that we where on a fact finding mission.

The girls and I had every question that we put to them answered fully and at times explained not just with words, with garments an photographs as well.

We are going back in March 2009 to get measured for my outfit and then back again late June 2009 to pick it up.

Thank you everyone for your advice, I would like to come back for help soon.

    Frank

How excellent that you found what you were looking for. Meanwhile, you might appreciate seeing how other X-markers have put it all together when going formal.

    Regards,
    Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.
