Many thanks yet again, Alex, for a fine piece of photo reportage. The sound, as others have stated, must have been amazing, but my attention has been taken by some very interesting and attractive tartans worn by the bandsmen/women. In particular, that worn by the Hawick band - what is their tartan, Alex?

It was a Hawick Town tartan which was created for a town twinning event about twenty years ago. My local kilt shop proprietor tells me it is no longer being woven, but there must be plenty of the fabric still around since the local pipe band can still get kilts in this tartan for new members.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

Amazing number of bands for such a relatively wee place and some lovely tartans too! :
