I know from DNA tests done as part of a Bio-Archeological study done a few years ago that I am of Pictish and Celtic descent with a verrrrrry small amount of Russian in me.
I'm a type B+. And, from what I have been told, type B is most common among small and insular societies.

    B+ for Bushmills.

Actually I can't remember what blood type I am. I should probably go and figure that out again. I think I'm either A or B, but I can't remember.

O+ but on the list of inelligble donors,

    Can you say Prions?
Can You say Bovine Spongiform Encephalitis?
Can You say Mad Cow Disease?

Oh I used to donate blood, but now the Red Cross doesn't want it even for scientific studies. Well back to diluting my blood with Castle Knappogue.

because blood is only red when it hits oxygen.

The book "Eat Right 4 Your Type" by Dr. D'Adamo has a great section on the history of blood types. Using anthropological data, they traced the evolution of blood types.

Most of the book is about what food you should eat for optimum health so perhaps a trip to the library would be best.

I believe O is most common not only among Celts but everyone else as well.

If you really want to know your biological ancestry, there is no substitute (well, none commercially available) for DNA testing. Take a look at www.familytreedna.com, and go to their FAQ. Family Tree has the largest database of DNA used for genealogical purposes and therefore has the most useful and reliable results.

An interesting map of the locations of Y and mitochondrial DNA, including Celtic lands, is here http://www.scs.uiuc.edu/~mcdonald/Wo...groupsMaps.pdf

haha, good one but you know that is just a myth, right?

blood is liquid and solids, plasma is the liquid and platelets/white and red blood cells are the solids.

Arterial blood is red because the iron molecules in the hemoglobin react with the oxygen they carry.

Venal blood has a slightly blueish/purplish hue because it contains less oxygen after it has been delivered throughout the body.

Blood is red whether inside the body or outside, as it reacts with the oxygen upon contact, and inside the body it moves oxygen anyway.
