I have noticed that low fat ones don't "bang" very much"

Yum! Bangers & Mash.....
In the old days they were tightly packed in a different casing, and if cooked too quickly (on my Grannie's wood stove) they would "Pop". Sometime Ralphs supermarket has them, but there is often an English store attached to English Pubs here in the U.S. and they often have them; also Sausage Rolls, Pasties, Ginger Beer, etc. We have one on Burbank Blvd here; "The Picadilly". I have Bangers as an occasional special treat -due to my Cholersterol problems- they are delicious!

HEB is a chain of grocery stores in Texas and Mexico. The initials stand for Howard E Butts, a former head of the company. Their slogan is "here, everything's better!"
So if the sausages pop when you cook 'em, why aren't they called poppers?
Oh, somebody's already using that one? Never mind.

There is German butcher shop here in town that has a super variety of all sorts and conditions of sausages, bangers included . . . . . If I weren't so full right now, I cook up some. (That was some party we just had!)

That's what Brits call snaps [on a snow jacket, etc.].

Can't forget a good shepard's pie to go along with that. Man I'm getting hungry now.

And haggis, for all of those with enough pride to eat it. (You can look for me at the table with the Bangers and Mash)

Ok... hungry now.
I haven't had Bangers and Mash since the Houston meet up in 2007 at Brian O'Neil's. Good stuff.
