    The Second One

I made the actual start on the second "Weathered Saffron" Xkilt this evening. I am blessed in that I have access to the nine foot formica table in a well lit room that someone else was jonesing for recently. I brought the fabric back to work to do the layout and initial cut after hours. This is the remainder after I made mine, and I have to work around some fabric issues along the way.

This is the fabric on the table being marked up for the later pleating. This will end up being only the pleated portion of the beast since I had to cut out a large tear in my (free) fabric. I will layout the front apron later on, I decided to add some fusable interfacing to the front apron as the fabric has a tendency to fly away; I will probably try to add some to my "completed" one as well.

This is cutting to length. I'm making this a bit long for my boy, as he is about to shoot up again. Nineteen inches will be just below the knee, but by the Loch Lomond games (if we can get there) it will be the perfect length.

Rerolled and ready to carry home for sewing.

More to follow as the project progresses, my target is to finish by the NorCal kilt night on August 29th; I have a big work project in the middle, but I'm hopeful.

    cheers,

    Bob

    That scroll looks ceremonial.

I agree. What kind of table is that? Where can one be had?

    the table

It was custom built by a former co-worker. He might be available to build one for Alan, I doubt it's worth flying him to Georgia.

I took more pictures, but left the camera behind this morning, soon.

I bought a great collapsible table from Hancock Fabrics a few years ago, very much like this one. Mine's only 30" wide instead of 36" but I can still spread out 60"-wide fabric that's doubled. IIRC, it was about $75 [and worth every penny].

JoAnn Fabrics has that collapsible table (36"W x 59"L) in the 24Aug -06Sep sale flyer for $60 (regularly $100). Can't beat that price unless you build it yourself!

    finished in time for Pleasanton

This is Scooby's favorite shot from Pleasanton. I thought I would post this one here instead of with my other games shots.

    cheers,

    Bob
