Hello from Georgia!
Hey all! I've been lurking here for over a year, off and on, doing research until I could actually afford a kilt. I finally have built up some funds, and found a great deal on an Utilikilt on eBay, so finally joined to ask a stupid question (in its appropriate forum, of course).
I'm from Georgia, but our family is of Scottish heritage, and our family tree goes on back to a Scottish knight in the 14th century (I believe it was, it may have been earlier though) and beyond. So kilts are, in a way, in my blood. I suppose I first got the hankering for one after seeing Braveheart ages ago, but the after I started researching them, found I really wanted one for the comfort they afford.
Besides, Real Men Wear Kilts.
Anyhow, I'm a web and graphic designer, photographer, and writer in my spare time. I administrate a couple forums on lucid dreaming when I'm not out practicing wilderness survival skills, or designing knives. I plan to eventually become a part-time bladesmith as life will allow. Lots of sgian dubhs will come of that, I assure you. ;)
I want a kilt first for the comfort, and for the 'cool' factor, in both senses I suppose. Besides, chicks dig kilts, right? I'm not crazy about tartan, though my clan tartan is pretty subdued compared to some; I'd rather stick with the modern style choices, mainly the Utilikilts. I love their designs.
And that about covers me. Hope to learn a lot here!

"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
