The cowboy boots have the right sole but while not recommended paired with a kilt, it was appropriate for the event.
    How about some lace-up ropers?

Dance wax works well on non-leather soles, too, I've discovered.

Yeah! Thanks for the hearty encouragement! It was a lot of FUN.

Have been toying with the idea of wearing cowboy boots with my leather kilts. What is it that workboots/hiking boots/ biker boots are fine with kilts but cowboy boots not?
Go for it! What could be more diverse and weird than an Asian guy wearing symbols of Scottish and country-western cultures.

Often dance kilted at our local western bars with dance floors. Bands love it. Tourists whip out their cameras and video cams like paparazzi.

I'm telling you none of the tourists will have their picture taken with an Asian guy in a kilt.

    Don't lose that spirit!

Thank you! I'm just getting into it

Ooooh.... (drooling for those lace-up ropers)

Where can you get "dance wax?" Hmm. Sounds like I could use it.

Living here in Texas, seeing guys in kilts, boots, and hats is completely normal, just like tailcoats and jeans. I couldn't be happier seeing the combination spreading around the country—and then, THE WORLD!

Probably any dance supply house that serves ballroom dancers. You can also find it by the canister or case at Amazon. But do check with your venue hosts before scattering this stuff all about. A little goes a long way, and most people would probably prefer to have a little bit in a corner somewhere to pick it up only when they need it. Too much of it, and everyone's on their bums after one quick two-step.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I used to work in a country western band for dance clubs and so on. Every so often someone would bring that stuf in and people would be falling all over the place all night; especially if it was a bar.

BTW, back when I was growing up everyone showed their boot tops outside their pants, but I guess it all changed by the end of the eighties.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
