Don't forget the Tartan Museum Gift shop in that list! Although, I am jonesing for a modern tweed kilt jacket and waistcoat. Not that it is a big deal since I wouldn't wear that sort of thing in the summer months anyway.

The telephone number doesn't connect, and Clansman Knitwear hasn't been seen at any Northern California Highland Games this season.
I think he's out of business.

They don't get a good review from me.
Sorry Dude, if you have a deadline to answer something from an agency or credit card company you need answer it (1) within the deadline and (2) to the proper agency.
Not to mention if something is backordered, Federal regs for mailorder require that you notify the customer and give them the option of waiting for the item to come in or a refund.

Wow the only way a review could be worse than this is if they had stolen your car too.

Another bad story.
Emailed Clansman Knitwear on 22Oct at 2:30am about 1 yard of tartan that I needed for my wedding on the 31st. Recieved a reply about 4 hours later that they did have it in stock and would be able to get it to San Diego in time for the wedding. Placed my order. Wedding day came and went with no sign of the tartan.
Got back from the honeymoon and still no package. Emailed Ralph on 10Nov and as of yet have not heard back from him.
Was able to make do in the ceremony with some other fabric that I had at the house, but would have preferred the new that I ordered.
Note to self - always check X-Marks before ordering from a company.

If you used your credit card go ahead and start a dispute through the card provider. You should be able to get your money back.

Yes, dispute it immediatly if not sooner. Chances are you won't be happy with Ralph. I wasn't!

How is it that these guys are still around?!
*Christmas special ad from 2005 (mentioned earlier in thread but still up)
*All the bad press here
*bed rep with BBB
Doesn't make very much sense to me. You'd think that eventually someone might press charges and the place be shut down or something of that nature.
I feel bad for all the people that are out money from dealings with them.

I ordered some yardage of MacLaren from them. It was delivered in a timely manner, with email correspondance answered quickly.
However, based on everything I've seen here, I will not be ordering from them again.

Ralph now lives in an apartment building outside of Pittsburgh PA. A customer of mine who lives up near Erie, PA RENTED 6 outfits from him for a wedding and had to return it to his home address. He's now working / running his company from his apartment in PA. Apparently, there's a few suppliers looking for him to collect on bills.
