Women are prepared to pay more, too.

This probably has some causal relationship with why there are half a dozen women's clothing stores for every men's clothing store.

    http://www.verymerryseamstress.com

She offers what seems to me to be *extremely* well priced Faire garb. That dress, with blouse, bodice etc. etc is $175.

Try Zappo's, www.zappos.com. I wear a wide size that's a little hard to find, and I've had very good luck with them. The prices are not bad, either.

My wife swears by Cinderella of Boston (http://www.cinderellaofboston.com/) for her size 2 1/2 feet.

Wizard is absolutely right. about commercial "vanity" sizing. I have had too many arguments with actors and actresses over the measurements that go on their personal chart for the costume shop workers! Especially waist (both sexes) height (more often men than women) shoe size (mostly women) and on and on.
I was delighted when we got a costumer from Latin America who insisted that all measurements be given to her in metric units. Made the job much simpler.

The above is from an earlier post by me about vanity sizing of men's trousers, but it applies to women's clothing as well. The name of the game is Marketing, Marketing, Marketing. Hence the "new" fashion look. The idea is to make you want to get rid of all the clothing you bought in the past year, and buy new. Profit, Profit, Profit (for the retail food chain, not yours)

To my eye, that is a very lovely, and feminine ensemble.

Since my wife makes nearly all of her clothes, I cannot comment on the price, but it looks like something she would come up with.

You may not thank me once she's had a good look around the site; I understand it can get quite addictive!
