I teach part time on a college campus in DFW area. I usually wear a UK or casual kilt when I teach. It never fails that when I walk across campus I'm stopped or have "cool kilt" yelled at me. Since the campus has such a diverse student body, kilts, and other garbs, are easily accepted, and encouraged. (Except for the "senior" students who just stare, not sure what to think.)

Na, I live up north (maybe 1 hour east of Rockford) but I'm down in the Quad Cities for college.

I received my first kilt very late in my college career.

I wore it for my dissertation defence and under my cap & gown on graduation day. Had great responses from almost everyone.

the hose are my red casual pair hand-knit by my mother (I LOVE THEM, and it's a shame these pictures don't show the stitch detail)
