MacMillan modern black tartan

The MacMillan Black Modern is not an official clan tartan as already stated. Tha confusion about the MacMillan tartans is understandable since not all manufacturers are as interrested in being official as they are interrested in making a buck.
The Ancient, The Hunting, and The Dress are the only official MacMillan tartans and certain variations of the three are accepted. If you or anyone reading this is still confused about what is an acceptable MacMillan tartan, you should know that The Clan MacMillan has an official website that can answer these questions and many others. I just don't seem to be able to get that link to work.

I knew something looked wrong about that link, but now I see the "c" and "a" were reversed in MacMillan.
I'm looking over that site now, and I see the information on the sept I have connections to through my Great Grandfather... Very interesting.

I have a little MacMillan blood in me several generations back and was considering getting a kilt to honor that tie, specifically what now appears to be the "outlaw" MacMillan Black. Of the bunch I think it looks most classy. Now I am scratching my head wondering if I should still do it, or just scrap the whole idea. Not particularly fond of any of the other MacMillans as officially sanctioned by the chief, unfortunately.

Tough decisions---outlaw kilt or none at all. Hmmmm.

The chief said we were free to wear it as long as we did not promote it as a recognized MacMillan tartan.

I still wear mine to Clan functions, and have a bit of fun wearing the "banned MacMillan".
