			Lady's Tartan Wellington Boots

New LL Bean catalog has tartan Wellington style boots for ladies on the cover...okay....they call it the L L Bean Signature Plaid but I think that's the Maine state tartan there was a fuss over a while back...? Regardless...plaid/tartan boots. $50
I can see some of our ladies in these...but that's me.

Heh, I just got the catalog myself this morning. The boots stood out to me as well. I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Those are eye-catching alright. My wife wears wellies during the winters here. I can see her in the those.

Last year J. Crew had ladies wellies in MacLean Hunting Tartan, but by the time I went to order them for my wife, they were all sold out!

That is not the Maine tartan, Ron...it actually is the "L.L. Bean plaid" -- I am wearing a shirt in it today!

Wellies are unisex. A guy I knew a long time ago had a pair of golden coloured wellies from Biba, the London boutique that was famous in the '60s. Those were technically ladies' ones, but he got them as a present from his girlfriend and they were his treasured possession. He always wore them for walks in the country.

My problem with "unisex" shoes/boots is twofold. First they are generally narrower than men's for the same length. Second, very few are made in women's sizes above 12 (US). I wear a men's 13E
Bought a pair of dancing gillies, size 15, and had to stretch the bejabbers out of them to get them to fit. Fortunately one can do that to thin, soft leather (goatskin, I would guess).

My current pair of wellies have a houndstooth pattern, and my last ones has skulls with crossed swords. They go with everything when it rains as much as it tends to here.
